Kismet is the westernmost town on Fire Island, bordering the Fire Island National Seashore Lighthouse tract. With about 260 single-family homes and two multiple-dwelling structures, it has the most year-round residents. Kismet’s bayfront has a small commercial district that serves as the community center and includes the Kismet Fire House, three very popular restaurants – the Inn, Dive Bar and the Red Wagon – as well as a pizzeria, food market, boat marina, two public and one private tennis court, and children’s playground. Ferries from Bay Shore run to Kismet and the next seven large towns going east.
